Intensive vs. Extensive Reading: A Study on the Impact of L2 Reading Interventions in 5th and 6th Grade
In a row of studies, I am investigating the impact of intensive and extensive reading interventions on the student’s English performances (grades in vocabulary and class tests and standardized pre- and posttests), their motivation and their sustainable reading behavior. Furthermore, I am running explorative analyses concerning the students reading preferences, to gain insight into what English literature is attractive and manageable for beginning learners of English. About 300 students in 5th and 6th grade at a German junior high school are participating in this two-year study.
